RESISTANCE CINEMA: Y Tu Mamá También

Sometimes resistance looks like a protest. Sometimes it looks like sitting in a room together, watching a movie, laughing, feeling uncomfortable, and talking about what we saw.

This month, Resistance Cinema brings us together for Y Tu Mamá También a film about friendship, desire, class, politics, youth, and the complicated realities that exist underneath everyday life.

But Resistance Cinema isn't just about the movie.

It's about watching together.

In a world that increasingly isolates us behind screens, algorithms, and individual feeds, there is something powerful about gathering in the same room with other people. We watch the same story unfold. We laugh at the same moments. We sit with the uncomfortable ones. We argue about what it means. We discover that someone sitting next to us saw something completely differently.

That is how community gets built.

Movies can give us a common language. They can open conversations that might never happen otherwise. They can help us understand experiences outside our own and remind us that culture, storytelling, and imagination are part of how we understand the world around us.

Resistance Cinema is a space to slow down and experience something together.

Come meet other members of the community. Bring a friend. Bring someone you've been organizing with. Or come by yourself and meet people when you get here.

No speeches. No pressure. Just a movie, a room full of people, and the opportunity to spend a few hours together.

Because building a movement isn't only about what we do in the streets.

It's also about learning how to be together.
