Campaign Overview
-
Dream it.
The People’s Climate Action is a direct-action campaign led by the Grassroots Activist International Association to confront the climate crisis at its root—locally, urgently, and without compromise. Our mission is to unite Angelenos around the single most important local climate goal: ending the expansion of fossil fuel infrastructure in Los Angeles County, and shutting down all existing urban oil wells.
We demand a just transition away from fossil fuels that centers frontline communities, creates union jobs, and stops environmental racism in its tracks.
Shut down every active oil well and block any new fossil fuel infrastructure in Los Angeles County.
No more permits. No more drilling. No more time. -
Build it.
We don’t play politics. We build power. Our tools are tried and tested in struggle:
Direct Action – Blockades, sit-ins, street takeovers, and facility shutdowns to create pressure that can’t be ignored.
Birddogging – Confronting decision-makers at every public event, town hall, ribbon-cutting, fundraiser, or photo op. If they have a mic, we have a voice.
Escalating Tactics – We start loud and only get louder. Campaign pressure builds in waves, designed to overwhelm delay tactics, media spin, and backroom deals.
-
Grow it.
Immediate shut down of all oil drilling within 2,500 feet of homes, schools, and hospitals.
No new permits for fossil fuel infrastructure in LA County, effective immediately.
Public investment in a just transition plan led by frontline communities and union labor.
Criminal investigation into polluters and political enablers responsible for health harms in frontline neighborhoods.
-
Make it forever.
We are organizing mass canvasses, community meetings, street actions, digital storms, and disruption squads. This is a climate campaign that fights like hell.
Los Angeles City Council – for immediate cancellation of permits and enforcement of oil well phaseouts.California Geologic Energy Management Division (CalGEM) – for dragging their feet on neighborhood well closures.
Chevron, Marathon, and Sentinel Peak Resources – top corporate polluters operating within LA.
Mayor Karen Bass – for her power to lead or betray LA’s climate justice legacy.
